Cindy and Dave's Hawaii Vacation, 2007

Saturday, June 9

We were up with the sun this morning and ate breakfast on the lanai. After breakfast, we grabbed our beach shoes and went for a walk, heading south down the beach from the condo. Our walk lasted probably only an hour or so and gave us our first chance to jump into the water and swim around a bit. The water was actually quite pleasant and it was no problem to stay in for an extended length of time. When we returned to our condo, we were quite surprised to find an email from Debbie with a captured webcam photo of us! By chance, she had just happened to be watching the webcam when we had left for our walk.

After cleaning up a bit, we went to Old Lahaina to do some shopping. We spent a couple of hours walking from shop to shop, looking through the goods and buying a couple of souvenirs. Old Lahaina is on the ocean and bears a very similar appearance to Hyannis, with interesting little tourist shops and restaurants lining both sides of the street for several blocks. We had lunch at Kimo's, a charming little eatery with outdoor seaside seating.

After shopping, we high-tailed it back to the Maui Kai, since it was getting near time for our 2pm date with the webcam. At 1:58pm, we went out and sat on the stone ledge and waved and waved and waved for what seemed like a long time. We couldn't really see for sure that the camera was always pointed at us, but certainly it was at times. After feeling quite conspicuous, we decided we should go play in the water, which we did for another several minutes. We don't know how many friends and family were viewing the webcam at that time, but when we got back to our room we did find an email with a webcam shot from Steve. And later on that evening we received seven shots from the Macurs. Apparently the webcam meet was a success.

Following our webcam rendezvous, we walked up the beach to the north to what looked like a nicer, wider section and went in and out of the water to practice our snorkeling and to just relax near the water. Eventually dinner time rolled around and we drove across the street to a Subway for a meal to go so we could sit out on our lanai to eat and watch the sunset. All in all, it was an extremely pleasant and relaxing day with perfect weather.
