On June 27, 2002, Cindy and Dave took a biplane ride above Sedona, Arizona. The tour company,
Red Rock Biplane Tours, flies two new Super Waco biplanes,
a red one and a yellow one. Each biplane holds two passengers and a pilot. Both passengers sit side-by-side in the front cockpit,
while the pilot flies from the rear cockpit.
Each biplane is equipped with a dual-camera system to record each personalized flight. The camera system periodically switches between the scenery of the Red Rocks and the passengers flying in the front cockpit. The video may be optionally purchased at the end of the ride, after viewing it, for $15.
We opted for the 20 minute tour and were treated to birds-eye views of the spectacular Red Rock countryside. The ride was smooth, yet exhilarating and was our first ride in an open cockpit airplane. Here are a few photos from our trip.
