Our group of six (Millie and Ralph Wyant, Kay and Lyle Clark, Cindy and Dave Wyant) walked up Shaw Butte to view the sunset and city lights of Phoenix. Shaw Butte is a local Phoenix mountain that is frequently used by Cindy and Dave (and lots of others) for training and recreation. The walk to the top involves climbing approximately 850' along a 1.35 mile long dirt road to the mountain's summit. Since the mountain lies within the city, good views can be had of the city itself which really lights up at night.

Even though the climb of Shaw Butte and its associated good views is a near-everyday ritual for Cindy and Dave, the experience proved to be a real highlight for everyone. It was a good end to a wonderful trip. The Indiana gang departed for home the following morning and we were all left with fond memories.
